:gly-his free base
Description:
Gly-His free base, also known as Glycyl-Histidine, is a dipeptide composed of the amino acids glycine and histidine. It is characterized by its ability to act as a buffering agent due to the presence of the imidazole side chain of histidine, which can accept or donate protons depending on the pH of the environment. This property makes Gly-His particularly useful in biological systems and biochemical applications where pH stability is crucial. The substance is typically a white to off-white powder and is soluble in water, which facilitates its use in various formulations. Gly-His is also known for its potential antioxidant properties and its role in cellular processes, including metal ion chelation. As a free base, it does not carry a net charge at physiological pH, which can influence its interactions with other biomolecules. Overall, Gly-His is significant in both research and therapeutic contexts, particularly in the fields of biochemistry and pharmacology.

CAS:
H-Gly-His-OH is a cationic surfactant that can be used as an emulsifying agent, dispersing agent, or wetting agent. It has been shown to form model complexes with hydrogen bond strength and the ability to bind to nitrogen atoms. H-Gly-His-OH has been detected in a detectable concentration of 0.01% in neutral pH and at least 0.1% in acidic pH. The chemical shift of the proton NMR spectra for H-Gly-His-OH are found at 8.5 ppm (δ) and 8.2 ppm (δ). Magnetic resonance spectroscopy performed on ternary mixtures containing H-Gly-His-OH show peaks at δ 2.6 ppm and δ 1.9 ppm from the amide protons of the His residue, which are characteristic for this molecule's chemical structure.
Formula:C8H12N4O3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:212.21 g/mol
