Description:
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a potent androgenic steroid and a derivative of testosterone, characterized by its role in the development of male characteristics and reproductive functions. It is synthesized from testosterone through the action of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. DHT is crucial for the development of male external genitalia during embryonic growth and plays a significant role in hair growth, prostate health, and libido in adult males. Chemically, DHT is a steroid hormone with a molecular formula of C19H30O2 and a molecular weight of approximately 290.45 g/mol. It is lipophilic, allowing it to easily cross cell membranes and bind to androgen receptors, exerting its biological effects.     Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen that is used in hormone replacement therapy to treat conditions such as testosterone deficiency, delayed puberty, and impotence.
