CP-24879 hydrochloride is able to inhibit oxidative stress and prevent mitochondrial membrane potential from decreasing. It has been suggested that this agent may play a role in the prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases by maintaining cellular homeostasis. This compound has also been shown to activate h2o2-induced apoptosis and induce photoreceptor cell death in laboratory animals.
