CAS:Lanthanum nitrate hexahydrate is a solid catalyst used in the treatment of wastewater. It reacts with hydroxyl groups to form coordination complexes, which are then decomposed by sodium carbonate to release lanthanum and water vapor. The lanthanum then binds to zirconium oxide particles and is used as a catalyst for cationic polymerization of amines. Lanthanum nitrate hexahydrate has been shown to be useful as a solid catalyst for the production of polyurethane foam from anhydrous sodium. Lanthanum nitrate hexahydrate has also been shown to have synergistic effects in the production of hydrochloric acid from hydrogen and hydrochloric acid.
