Beschreibung:

Ethambutolhydrochlorid ist ein antituberkulöses Medikament, das hauptsächlich zur Behandlung von Tuberkulose eingesetzt wird. Es handelt sich um ein weißes bis schwach weißes kristallines Pulver, das in Wasser löslich ist und einen pH-Bereich von etwa 4,5 bis 7,5 in Lösung aufweist. Die Verbindung wirkt, indem sie die Synthese der mykobakteriellen Zellwand hemmt und so das Wachstum von Mycobacterium tuberculosis verhindert. Ethambutolhydrochlorid wird typischerweise oral verabreicht und gut aus dem Magen-Darm-Trakt aufgenommen. Seine Pharmakokinetik zeigt, dass es eine relativ lange Halbwertszeit hat, was eine einmal tägliche Dosierung in den meisten Behandlungsregimen ermöglicht.
