4-Amino-N-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)-2-methoxybenzene-1-sulfonamide (DSP) is a peptide inhibitor with IC50 of 1.5 μM for the human TGFβ type I receptor. DSP blocks the activation of Smad proteins by TGFβ, thereby inhibiting the proliferation and differentiation of fibroblasts in vitro. It also inhibits protein synthesis in cells, which may be due to its ability to bind to ribosomes and inhibit translation.
