Piperidin ist eine sechsgliedrige heterocyclische organische Verbindung, die durch einen gesättigten Ring mit fünf Kohlenstoffatomen und einem Stickstoffatom gekennzeichnet ist. Es handelt sich um eine farblose bis blassgelbe Flüssigkeit mit einem charakteristischen aminartigen Geruch. Piperidin ist bekannt für seine Basizität, die auf das freie Elektronenpaar am Stickstoffatom zurückzuführen ist, was ihm ermöglicht, in verschiedenen chemischen Reaktionen als Nucleophil zu agieren.
