Octanoylchlorid, auch bekannt als Capryloylchlorid, ist ein aus Octansäure abgeleiteter Acylchlorid. Es hat die chemische Formel C8H15ClO und zeichnet sich durch seine lange Kohlenwasserstoffkette aus, die zu seinen hydrophoben Eigenschaften beiträgt. Diese farblose bis blassgelbe Flüssigkeit hat einen stechenden Geruch und ist hochreaktiv, insbesondere mit Wasser, wo es hydrolysiert, um Octansäure und Salzsäure zu bilden.
