Nicotinamide is a form of vitamin B3 and has been shown to protect against the toxicity of aromatic amines in the liver, kidneys, and lungs. 1-(3-Aminophenyl)propan-1-one is excreted unchanged in urine as aminoacetophenone and may be used as a marker for exposure to aromatic amines.
