Pyrazinamide-15N,d3 is a pharmacokinetic marker that has been used to measure the pharmacokinetics of pyrazinamide in humans. Pyrazinamide is an antiretroviral drug that inhibits retroviral replication by competing with nucleoside analogues for access to the enzyme reverse transcriptase. The effects of pyrazinamide on HIV have been studied using a one-compartment model and parameters derived from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected women. Pyrazinamide has been found to be effective in reducing HIV viral load and may prevent AIDS progression through its immunomodulatory effects.
