Aripiprazol ist ein atypisches Antipsychotikum, das hauptsächlich zur Behandlung von Schizophrenie, bipolaren Störungen und als Zusatzbehandlung bei schweren depressiven Störungen eingesetzt wird. Es wirkt als partieller Agonist an Dopamin-D2-Rezeptoren und Serotonin-5-HT1A-Rezeptoren und fungiert gleichzeitig als Antagonist an 5-HT2A-Rezeptoren, was zu seinem einzigartigen pharmakologischen Profil beiträgt. Dieser Mechanismus hilft, die Stimmung zu stabilisieren und psychotische Symptome zu reduzieren.
