2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(trimethyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)ethan-1-one is an inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX). It binds to COX and blocks the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. The inhibition of COX by 2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(trimethyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)ethan-1-one prevents the production of prostaglandin E2 and F2α. This compound is used as a research tool in cell biology and pharmacology.
