Naltriben is a potent and selective inhibitor of Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) that blocks the activation of B-cells. It is used as a research tool to study the function of BTK in cells, such as peptides and proteins that bind to this protein. Naltriben has been shown to activate ligand-gated ion channels, including nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This drug also inhibits protein interactions with the receptor for advanced glycation endproducts (RAGE).
