Beschreibung:

Natriumhydroxid, allgemein bekannt als Natronlauge oder Lauge, ist eine anorganische Verbindung mit der Formel NaOH. Es ist ein weißer, geruchloser Feststoff, der hochgradig in Wasser löslich ist und eine stark alkalische Lösung erzeugt. Natriumhydroxid ist hygroskopisch, was bedeutet, dass es Feuchtigkeit aus der Luft aufnehmen kann, und es wird typischerweise in fester Form als Pellets, Flocken oder Granulate angetroffen. Es hat einen hohen Schmelzpunkt und ist eine starke Base, die sich leicht in Wasser dissociiert, um Hydroxidionen (OH⁻) freizusetzen, was es effektiv macht, Säuren zu neutralisieren. Diese Verbindung wird in verschiedenen Industrien weit verbreitet eingesetzt, einschließlich der chemischen Herstellung, der Papierproduktion und der Wasseraufbereitung sowie in Haushaltsreinigungsprodukten. Es ist auch wichtig zu beachten, dass Natriumhydroxid exotherm mit Wasser reagiert, daher sollte es immer zu Wasser hinzugefügt werden, nicht umgekehrt, um Spritzer und potenzielle Gefahren zu vermeiden.
