BIX02565 inhibits the activation of inflammatory cells, such as macrophages, by inhibiting the production of cytokines and reactive oxygen species. This drug also has a protective effect on cardiac tissue by reducing lipid peroxidation and preserving mitochondrial function. It can be used to inhibit cell proliferation caused by ischemia/reperfusion injury.
