2,5-Dimethoxybenzene-1,4-diol is an intermediate in the synthesis of salicylic acid. It is a reagent that is used to produce hydrogen peroxide and can be used for the determination of salicylic acid. 2,5-Dimethoxybenzene-1,4-diol can be used as a reducing agent and chelator. It also exhibits anti-fungal properties and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects.
