It has been shown to decrease blood glucose levels in diabetic mice and rats, as well as inhibit the reabsorption of glucose by the kidney. 5-Bromo-2-methylthiophene-3-carboxylic acid is also an antidiabetic agent with potential antidiabetic activity in vitro.
