    AM-1220 is a synthetic cannabinoid that was designed to have potent anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-diabetic effects. AM-1220 has been shown to bind to the CB2 receptor with high affinity and selectivity, and as such has been proposed for use in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis. AM-1220 is metabolized by fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) into AM-1172, which has been shown to be active in the same receptors as AM-1220. This compound was first identified using immunochemical assays on chemically synthesized cannabinoids. The chemical structures of both compounds were confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS). These compounds are currently being studied for their long term toxicity in rats.
