Azetidine-3-carboxamide, trifluoroacetic acid (AA) is a potent and selective inhibitor of histone deacetylases (HDACs). It inhibits the catalytic activity of HDACs and decreases acetylation of histones. The compound has been shown to reduce dopaminergic neuronal death in a Parkinsonian model. AA has also been evaluated for its potential to treat age-related neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
