The reactivity of this ligand may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds or intramolecular hydrogen bonds with the amine group. 3-Ethoxycyclohexan-1-one is also able to bind nucleophiles and nucleophilic groups, which could make it useful in kinetic studies.
