CAS:Clomipramine N-oxide is an active metabolite of clomipramine, which is a tricyclic antidepressant that inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine. The drug is used to treat depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Clomipramine N-oxide is obtained by the reaction of clomipramine with nitrous acid in the presence of acetic acid. It has been found to have similar pharmacological properties as clomipramine, but also has an added depressant effect. Clomipramine N-oxide can be detected by liquid chromatography with a detection limit of 0.2 ng/mL and a linear range from 0.2 ng/mL to 2 μg/mL.
