2-Acrylamido-2-methylpropansulfonsäure (häufig abgekürzt als AMPS) ist ein wasserlöslicher Monomer, das durch seine sulfonische Säuregruppe gekennzeichnet ist, die starke ionische Eigenschaften verleiht. Diese Verbindung weist eine Acrylamidstruktur auf, was sie reaktiv und geeignet für Polymerisationsprozesse macht. AMPS ist typischerweise ein weißes kristallines Feststoff oder eine viskose Flüssigkeit, abhängig von seiner Form und Konzentration.
