CAS:4-Phenylurazole is a white solid that has a melting point of 154°C. It is soluble in water, methanol and ethanol. 4-Phenylurazole has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo, as well as functional groups that are reactive with hydrogen sulfate and chloride. This compound can be used to remove hydrogen sulfate from wastewater by reacting with it to form thiosulfate and elemental sulfur. The chemical reaction mechanism of 4-phenylurazole is a two-step process that begins with the formation of an intermediate complex between the substrate and the enzyme. The second step involves the release of product from this intermediate complex, which may be due to an intramolecular nucleophilic attack by the hydroxide ion on the carbon atom adjacent to the carbonyl group.
