Cis-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimide-3-hydroxy is a synthetic antibiotic that inhibits the growth of microorganisms. It is active against bacteria, parasites and viruses. Cis-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimide-3-hydroxy has been shown to inhibit the replication of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV) in vitro with an IC50 of 0.7 µM. This compound also inhibits Candida albicans in vitro with an IC50 of 2 µM and has good activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus with MICs between 0.008 and 0.016 µg/mL.
