Palbociclib-d8 is a potential antineoplastic agent that inhibits the aromatase enzyme. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells by blocking the synthesis of estrogen, which is required for tumor cell proliferation. Palbociclib-d8 binds to the aromatase enzyme and prevents the conversion of androgens into estrogens. This drug has also been shown to reduce tumor metastases in mice by inhibiting DNA replication and protein synthesis, leading to apoptosis. Palbociclib-d8 can be taken orally and has a favorable safety profile in animals; however, it is not yet approved for use in humans.
