Formaldehyd-d2, auch bekannt als deuteriertes Formaldehyd, ist eine stabile isotopische Variante von Formaldehyd, bei der die Wasserstoffatome durch Deuterium, ein schwereres Isotop von Wasserstoff, ersetzt werden. Seine chemische Formel ist C2H4O, aber mit der Deuteriumsubstitution wird es oft als C2D4O dargestellt. Diese Verbindung ist farblos und hat einen stechenden Geruch, ähnlich wie ihr nicht-deuteriertes Pendant. Formaldehyd-d2 wird hauptsächlich in Forschungsanwendungen verwendet, insbesondere in der NMR-Spektroskopie, wo seine deuterierte Natur hilft, Hintergrundsignale zu reduzieren und die Klarheit der Spektraldaten zu verbessern. Es wird auch in verschiedenen chemischen Syntheseprozessen und Studien zu Reaktionsmechanismen eingesetzt. Die Anwesenheit von Deuterium kann die physikalischen Eigenschaften im Vergleich zu normalem Formaldehyd leicht verändern, wie z.B. den Siedepunkt und die Löslichkeit. Formaldehyde-d2 solution is a formaldehyde solution that contains deuterium, which has the same chemical properties as hydrogen but has an additional neutron in its nucleus. Formaldehyde-d2 solution is used to prepare samples for NMR and ESI-MS experiments. The reaction mechanism of formaldehyde is believed to be an acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of the hydrogen bond between formaldehyde and methanol. Deuterium isotopes are generally considered to be non-radioactive and have little or no effect on biological systems. Formaldehyde-d2 solution can inhibit fatty acids from binding to the surface of potatoes, which may make it useful in treating autoimmune diseases.
