CAS:Nitroxynil is an anthelmintic drug that belongs to the group of nitroimidazoles. It has a high level of resistance to parasites and is used in animals for the treatment of fasciola, trichuris, and other endoparasites. Nitroxynil is a prodrug that requires activation by hydrolysis with trifluoroacetic acid or enzymatic reduction by hydroxylases. The pharmacokinetics of nitroxynil have been studied using an analytical method based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). This technique measures the changes in electrical impedance as a result of chemical reactions at electrodes immersed in a solution. It has been shown that nitroxynil can be detected in plasma at concentrations of 5–50 ng/mL after intravenous administration.
