Celecoxib ist ein nichtsteroidales entzündungshemmendes Medikament (NSAID), das hauptsächlich zur Behandlung von Schmerzen und Entzündungen im Zusammenhang mit Erkrankungen wie Arthritis eingesetzt wird. Es hemmt selektiv das Enzym Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), das eine Schlüsselrolle im Entzündungsprozess spielt, wodurch die Produktion von Prostaglandinen, die Schmerzen und Entzündungen vermitteln, reduziert wird.
