Didesmethylrocaglamide is a potent antitumor agent that belongs to the class of chemical diversity. It has been shown to be effective against sarcoma cells and other types of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Didesmethylrocaglamide inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the ribosome, inhibiting peptidyl transferase activity. The cytotoxic potency of didesmethylrocaglamide is higher than that of other chemical diversity compounds, such as vinblastine or cisplatin. Didesmethylrocaglamide does not have any adverse effects on normal cells.
