Flucloxacillin-Natrium ist ein semisynthetisches Antibiotikum, das zur Klasse der Penicilline gehört und hauptsächlich zur Behandlung von Infektionen eingesetzt wird, die durch grampositive Bakterien, insbesondere Staphylococcus aureus, verursacht werden. Es ist durch seine beta-lactam Struktur gekennzeichnet, die für seine antibakterielle Aktivität entscheidend ist. Die Natriumsalzform verbessert seine Löslichkeit in Wasser und erleichtert die intravenöse Verabreichung. Flucloxacillin ist resistent gegen Penicillinase, ein Enzym, das von bestimmten Bakterien produziert wird und andere Penicilline inaktivieren kann, wodurch es gegen penicillinresistente Stämme wirksam ist. Es wird typischerweise bei Hautinfektionen, Atemwegsinfektionen und Knocheninfektionen verabreicht. Das Medikament wird gut aufgenommen, wenn es oral eingenommen wird, obwohl seine Bioverfügbarkeit durch Nahrung beeinträchtigt werden kann. Zu den häufigen Nebenwirkungen können gastrointestinale Störungen, allergische Reaktionen und in seltenen Fällen Lebertoxizität gehören. Flucloxacillin-Natrium ist im Allgemeinen kontraindiziert bei Personen mit bekannter Allergie gegen Penicilline oder Cephalosporine. Wie bei allen Antibiotika ist es entscheidend, den verschriebenen Kurs abzuschließen, um die Entwicklung von Antibiotikaresistenzen zu verhindern.
