PDE1-IN-2 is a potent and selective activator of phosphodiesterase type 1 (PDE1). The PDE1-IN-2 ligand binds to the receptor on the cell surface, activating it and resulting in an increase in intracellular cAMP. This intracellular messenger molecule is involved in many cellular processes, including protein synthesis, ion channels, and cell signaling. PDE1-IN-2 has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the antibody response, as well as having potential use as a therapeutic agent for chronic immune disorders.

PDE1-IN-2 binds to protein kinase A (PKA) and the cAMP response element binding protein (CREB), which are both involved in cellular processes such as gene transcription.
