Cholesterol Myristate is used in the manufacture of anti-infective ointments, lotions, creams, and other skin care products. It has also been used as a film-forming polymer for cosmetic applications such as mascara and lipsticks. The phase transition temperature for cholesterol myristate is about -10°C. This means that it will not crystallize until the temperature drops below 10°C. The human serum stability of cholesterol myristate is low because the hydroxyl group interacts with water molecules, causing hydrolysis and oxidation reactions.
