Brefeldin A ist ein pilzlicher Metabolit, der ursprünglich aus dem Schimmelpilz *Brefeldia maxima* isoliert wurde. Es ist ein potenter Inhibitor des Proteintransports vom endoplasmatischen Retikulum zum Golgi-Apparat, was es zu einem wertvollen Werkzeug in der Zellbiologieforschung macht.
