1-[(5E)-5,6-Dideoxy-6-(diethoxy phosphinyl)-2-O-methyl-beta-D-ribo-hex-5-enofuranosyl]uracil is a novel monophosphate that was synthesized by modifying a known anticancer nucleoside. It is an activator of the antiviral ribonucleotide reductase and deoxyribonucleotide reductase. 1-[(5E)-5,6-Dideoxy-6-(diethoxy phosphinyl)-2-O-methyl-beta-D-ribohexanofuranosyl]uracil has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. It also inhibits tumor growth without affecting normal tissue.
