Mc70 hydrochloride is a prodrug that is converted to the active form, Mc70, in acidic environments. It is used to inhibit the activity of efflux pumps in cancer cells. The linker, dibutylamine, and activated esters are conjugated to the drug in order to increase its stability and potency. Analysis of this drug has shown that it inhibits cancer cell growth by inhibiting the activity of efflux pumps. This results in an increased accumulation of toxic substances within the cells. Mc70 hydrochloride also displays anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis and reduce inflammation.
