Clobazam ist ein Derivat der Benzodiazepine, das hauptsächlich als Antikonvulsivum und anxiolytisches Medikament verwendet wird. Es zeichnet sich durch seine Fähigkeit aus, die Wirkungen des Neurotransmitters Gamma-Aminobuttersäure (GABA) am GABA-A-Rezeptor zu verstärken, was zu einer erhöhten inhibitorischen Neurotransmission im zentralen Nervensystem führt. Clobazam wird typischerweise oral verabreicht und ist bekannt für seine relativ lange Halbwertszeit, die in vielen Fällen eine einmal tägliche Dosierung ermöglicht.
