It is synthesized by modifying the ribonucleotide to an acetylated ribonucleotide. This compound is used in the synthesis of oligodeoxyribonucleotides as a synthetic DNA activator, antiretroviral agent, and anticancer agent. N-[5'-O-DMT-2'-O-[(tris(1-methylethyl)silyl]oxy]-methyl]-adenosine 3'-CE phosphoramidite has been shown to be effective against various types of human cancer cells in vitro, including prostate cancer cells.
