It has been used as an intermediate in organic chemistry and as a reagent in silicon chemistry. The benzyl group can be reduced to a phenol group with hydrochloric acid or hydrogenolysis. 1-(Benzyloxy)-1H-1,2,3-triazole can also undergo lithiation or electrophilic substitution reactions.
