It has been shown to be an efficient reagent for the synthesis of methyl groups on an axial position with high-yielding constants. The compound can also be used as a coupling agent for organic reactions. 2,3,6-Trimethylmorpholine can be used to prepare isomers of protonated amines or amidoamines such as N,N'-dimethylethylenediamine and N,N'-diethylpropylenediamine.
