It can be prepared by the acetylation of 5-(acetylamino)naphthalene-2,3-diol with 2,4,6-triiodobenzene dicarboxylic acid using an alkali metal as a base. The yields for this reaction are dependent on the type of solvent used. This chemical has two functional groups: an amide and an acetate group.
