Lixisenatid ist ein synthetisches Peptid, das zur Klasse der Glukagon-ähnlichen Peptid-1 (GLP-1) Rezeptoragonisten gehört und hauptsächlich zur Behandlung von Typ-2-Diabetes mellitus eingesetzt wird. Es zeichnet sich durch seine Fähigkeit aus, die Insulinsekretion als Reaktion auf erhöhte Blutzuckerspiegel zu steigern, wodurch es zur glykämischen Kontrolle beiträgt. Lixisenatid ist eine modifizierte Version des natürlich vorkommenden GLP-1, mit strukturellen Veränderungen, die seine Stabilität verbessern und seine Wirkung im Körper verlängern. Lixisenatide is a peptide hormone that belongs to the class of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors.
