Cefoxitin-Natrium ist ein halbsynthetisches Cephalosporin-Antibiotikum, das hauptsächlich wegen seiner breiten antibakteriellen Aktivität eingesetzt wird. Es ist wirksam gegen eine Vielzahl von grampositiven und gramnegativen Bakterien, was es besonders nützlich bei der Behandlung von Infektionen macht, die durch anaerobe Bakterien verursacht werden. Die Verbindung wird typischerweise durch Injektion verabreicht und ist bekannt für ihre Stabilität gegenüber bestimmten Beta-Lactamasen, die Enzyme sind, die von einigen Bakterien produziert werden und Resistenz gegen andere Antibiotika verleihen.
