1,8-Diaminooctan, auch bekannt als Dioctylamin oder Octamethylendiamin, ist eine organische Verbindung, die durch ihre lange Kohlenstoffkette und zwei Aminogruppen (-NH2) gekennzeichnet ist, die sich an der ersten und achten Position des Oktan-Rückgrats befinden. Diese aliphatische Diamin ist bei Raumtemperatur eine farblose bis blassgelbe Flüssigkeit und hat aufgrund ihrer größeren Molekülgröße einen relativ hohen Siedepunkt. Sie ist in Wasser und polaren organischen Lösungsmitteln löslich, was ihre Nützlichkeit in verschiedenen Anwendungen erhöht. Die Anwesenheit von Aminogruppen macht sie zu einer vielseitigen Verbindung in der organischen Synthese, insbesondere bei der Herstellung von Polyamiden und als Härter für Epoxidharze. Darüber hinaus kann 1,8-Diaminooctan als Tensid wirken und wird in der Formulierung von Korrosionsschutzmitteln und in der Textilindustrie verwendet. Es sollte jedoch mit Vorsicht behandelt werden, da es Haut- und Atemwegsreizungen verursachen kann. 1,8-Diaminooctane is an organic compound that contains a hydroxyl group and a phosphotungstic acid group. It has been shown to be cytotoxic to tumour cell lines in the presence of x-ray irradiation. The mechanism for this cytotoxicity is thought to be due to the production of radicals from the hydrogen bonds in 1,8-diaminooctane. 1,8-Diaminooctane has also been shown to react with diphenyl ethers in the presence of light to produce phosphine gas. The reaction was studied by quantum theory and X-ray diffraction data.
