Dihydrofolic acid has been shown to have antimicrobial effects against infectious diseases, including tuberculosis. This compound can also be used to treat metal-chelate resistant bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Dihydrofolic acid has been shown to have neuroprotective properties in animals models and may be a potential drug target for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
