5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) ist eine natürlich vorkommende Aminosäure und ein chemischer Vorläufer von Serotonin, einem Neurotransmitter, der eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Regulierung von Stimmung, Schlaf und Appetit spielt. Es wird aus den Samen der afrikanischen Pflanze Griffonia simplicifolia gewonnen und wird häufig als Nahrungsergänzungsmittel wegen seiner potenziellen Vorteile zur Verbesserung der Stimmung und zur Linderung von Symptomen von Depressionen und Angstzuständen verwendet.
