CAS:Bathocuproine is an organometallic compound that is highly resistant to oxidation and has a low toxicity. It functions as an optical sensor for nitrite ion, which can be used in the treatment of chronic viral hepatitis and metabolic disorders. Bathocuproine also inhibits mitochondrial functions by binding to cytochrome c oxidase, preventing ATP production. This compound has been shown to have antimetastatic effects in breast cancer cells, effectively inhibiting the growth of tumor cells in mice.
