5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) ist ein synthetisches Pyrimidinanalogon, das als Antimetabolit in der Krebsbehandlung dient und hauptsächlich schnell teilende Zellen angreift. Seine chemische Formel ist C4H3FN2O2, und es ist durch das Vorhandensein eines Fluoratoms an der 5-Position des Uracilrings gekennzeichnet, was seine Stoffwechselwege verändert. 5-FU wird typischerweise intravenös oder topisch verabreicht, abhängig von der Art des behandelten Krebses, wie z.B. Kolorektal-, Brust- und Hautkrebs.
