(-)-Epinephrin, auch bekannt als Adrenalin, ist eine Katecholamin und ein Schlüsselhormon sowie Neurotransmitter im Körper. Es zeichnet sich durch seine Rolle in der "Kampf-oder-Flucht"-Reaktion aus, bei der es den Körper auf schnelle Aktionen in stressigen Situationen vorbereitet. Chemisch gesehen ist es eine Amin mit einer Struktur, die eine Katecholgruppe (ein Benzolring mit zwei Hydroxylgruppen) und eine Ethylamin-Seitenkette umfasst.
