Ticlopidinhydrochlorid ist ein Antiplättchenmedikament, das hauptsächlich zur Verringerung des Risikos von Schlaganfällen und anderen kardiovaskulären Ereignissen bei Patienten mit einer Vorgeschichte solcher Erkrankungen eingesetzt wird. Es wirkt, indem es die Aggregation von Blutplättchen hemmt und somit die Bildung von Blutgerinnseln verhindert. Die Substanz ist ein weißes bis off-white kristallines Pulver, das in Wasser löslich ist und eine molekulare Formel von C14H14ClN3O2S hat. Ticlopidinhydrochlorid wird typischerweise oral verabreicht und wird häufig Patienten verschrieben, die Aspirin nicht vertragen können. Seine Pharmakokinetik umfasst eine schnelle Absorption, wobei die maximalen Plasmakonzentrationen innerhalb weniger Stunden nach der Einnahme auftreten.
