The drug also inhibits ATP-sensitive potassium channels and has been shown to prevent the development of autoimmune diseases by inhibiting the production of cytokines. 3,4-Diaminopyridine is a glycosidic compound that can exist as either a zwitterion or a monoanion depending on pH.
